Applications now being accepted to the merit-based program promoting STEM excellence and rewarding the leadership potential of college engineering students
FLORHAM PARK, N.J., (March 16, 2021) – Emerson announced today the opening of its 2021 ASCO Engineering Scholarship Program, with applications now being accepted from U.S. college students. The merit-based scholarships reward excellence in education and service, and the potential for leadership and contributions to the engineering, instrumentation, systems and automation professions.
“The ASCO Engineering Scholarship program, now in its 14th year, is a key part of Emerson’s strong commitment to supporting quality, accessible STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education and experience to students from elementary school to university,” said Andy Duffy, vice president of sales for fluid control and pneumatics at Emerson.
“Students in 2020 faced a year of unprecedented challenges and setbacks. At Emerson, we know it is critical to focus forward and continue investing in today’s students to ensure their success and the future contributions they will bring to industry and the world,” Duffy said.
Emerson will award two scholarship packages, each consisting of a $5,000 scholarship and a $1,000 grant to each recipient’s college engineering department for research support. The recipients may also be eligible for an Emerson internship.
The deadline to apply is May 31, 2021.
“At Emerson — founded on innovation, and as a global technology and industrial software leader — driving a passion for, and championing the success of STEM education are core cultural values,” said Gordon Muir, president, industrial automation at Emerson’s Automation Solutions business.
Emerson has partnerships with more than 350 universities and technical colleges worldwide and donated millions to developing and training future generations through schools, universities, and related programs. Also, the company has hosted over 30 “We Love STEM” events in 12 countries, reaching more than 2,000 students with interactive STEM activities.
Through Emerson’s ASCO Engineering Scholarship Program, the company has distributed $156,000 in scholarships and grants, supporting 26 outstanding U.S. engineering students and their colleges.
